A protest rally is held near the Georgian Parliament in Tbilisi

Protesters near the Georgian parliament on June 29 demanded the release of George Rurua from arrest. This was reported by the opposition television channel Mtavari Arhi, whose co-owner is the arrested. According to journalists, members of the Shame movement and friends of Rurua, accused of illegal possession of weapons, came to parliament. According to protesters, he is being detained for political reasons. It is worth noting that the protest rally takes place during the consideration in parliament of the bill on electoral reform in Georgia. Opposition parliamentary parties United National Movement and European Georgia refused to vote, although they continue to demand the adoption of this reform. They explain their refusal to vote for the bill by the fact that Rurua is not released.
